Hi, I'm Isolde

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.

Just like my literary crush Holden Caulfield, I cannot bear writing about myself. So I'll stick to the facts.

Hi, I'm Isolde.

It is pronounced 'is-older', is from Wagner's opera Tristan And Isolde and yes, it has been a hard name to bear at times.

I'm a 28-year-old North London bird, born and raised, but I now live in deepest, darkest Clapham.

I'm a journalist and it's a strange time for journalists. Occasionally I fall into a Google blackhole, searching for how long it would take to become a solicitor. But mostly I love it - I think it is the most privileged job in the world but you'd have to be mad to do it.

This blog is called Girl Without A Niche because I  don't really know what it will be about just yet - you can read more about this dilemma here.

And finally, if the Holden Caulfield reference left you bewildered, stop reading immediately and pick up a copy of Catcher In The Rye. You can thank me later.
